Youth Initiatives Committee

The Youth Initiatives Committee is designed to serve an advisory role in identifying community needs, and constructively analyzing strategic efforts in meeting the needs of youth in the community.

The Youth Initiatives Committee (YI) addresses two priority issues facing youth in the Eagle River Valley; substance use and abuse and depression and suicide ideation. This committee is comprised of key stakeholders, with representation from various sectors of the community, including prevention specialists, to ensure a comprehensive lens is used in creating community level change. YI focuses on policy change and is responsible for raising awareness in the community through education, awareness building, and support of prevention programs based on research and best practices. Additionally, this group engages in long term strategic planning for the coalition and continuously revisits and re-evaluates community resources to ensure a physically and mentally healthy community for all youth.
