Positive Youth Development (PYD)

Positive Youth Development (PYD) is a strengths-based approach to adolescence. The Eagle River Youth Coalition was founded in part to build PYD throughout the Eagle River Valley. Originally, ERYC utilized the Search Institute’s 40 Development Assets framework along with Hawkins and Catalano’s Risk & Protective Factors model. In practice, PYD incorporates skills-building, opportunities for practice, and positive relationships into programs, practices and policies.
